My Story

If you were a sentient human being in 2007, ’08, ’09 you know that blogging and chronicling your deepest thoughts online for the world to see was this radical new idea, a glimmer in time when the whole world became Marcel Proust.

I started a weekly column called First Person Artist which became very popular and then was published on what was then a digital gold standard for renegade journalism on a small site called The Huffington Post. I became arts editor, then it got bought by one conglomerate after another until we were reaching millions of page views a month.

I think it’s fair to say that then “social media happened” and I don’t have enough inches to devote the ramifications other than to say that everyone has their own platform and navel gazing and selfies and the Kardashians, etc., etc. Who has time to write a blog let alone to read one? Not me. Now I host these fabulous events on Zoom which has been a life saver during the pandemic and if you want invitations to those events sign up at Firstpersonartist.com
