Kimberly Brooks is a Los Angeles-based artist represented by Taylor De Cordoba, in Los Angeles, California. Brooks blends figuration and abstraction to explore various subjects. She takes cues from traditional portraiture, indian miniatures, fashion photography, and faded 70’s Polaroids. She has had three successful solo exhibitions and been in many group exhibitions in Los Angeles and New York. Her next solo show, The Stylist Project, is a series of portraits will be exhibited in Feb 27 - April 3, 2010 at Taylor De Cordoba in Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in numerous juried exhibitions including curators from Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of Modern Art, LACMA and California Institute of the Arts. Her work has been featured in numerous publications including Art Ltd., The LA Times, C Magazine, Pen Magazine (Japan), Vanity Fair, Elle, Marie Claire and New American Paintings. Brooks hosts an artist column entitled “First Person Artist” on the Huffington Post. Her work is in numerous prestigious and private collections internationally. Brooks earned her B.A. from UC Berkeley, trained in fine arts at Otis College of Art and Design and UCLA. Brooks maintains her studio in Venice, California.
